Questions we're asked alot.

We are a Nelson artisan food brand and want to go direct to consumers while also growing distribution. How does Shopify support both?

With B2B and DTC running from the same platform. Consumer buyers check out through the standard Shopify flow. Wholesale buyers get account-specific pricing, minimum orders and a separate enquiry path. A properly built store also signals to distributors that you are professionally run, which matters when you are making the case for shelf space. We scope both audiences at brief stage.

Nelson Sauvin hops are sold internationally. We supply specialist hops to craft brewers around the world. How does Shopify handle that B2B wholesale?

With Shopify's B2B features and multi-currency configuration. International buyers need pricing in their own currency, clear minimum order and shipping information and product specifications detailed enough to order without calling. For specialist ingredient suppliers, the product page needs to hold up to serious technical scrutiny. We build for that standard.

We are a Nelson wine producer. How do we grow our wine club and DTC sales beyond the cellar door audience?

Wine club subscriptions run through apps like Recharge that integrate with Shopify's inventory and customer data. The more important work is making sure the product pages and brand story are compelling enough to earn a sale from someone who has not visited the cellar door. That means strong imagery, specific tasting notes and the kind of provenance detail that earns a premium online.

We sell at the Nelson Saturday Market and want to add an online channel. How does Shopify work for both?

Shopify POS shares inventory and customer data with the online store. Stock sold at the market adjusts online counts in real time. For producers moving from market-only to market plus online, this is the cleanest path to running both without doubling your admin.

We make pottery, glass, textiles or fine jewellery in Nelson. How do we sell online without losing the personal quality of how we currently sell?

The key is product presentation that communicates what is lost in a photograph: scale, texture, the quality of the finish. Strong photography from multiple angles, clear dimensions and material descriptions and enough of the maker's voice in the copy that the buyer feels the provenance. We scope the content requirements at brief stage because for handmade work, the photography and copy matter as much as the architecture.
