Heritage Saunas builds bespoke, design-led saunas throughout New Zealand, crafted from redwood and shaped with an architectural approach to small structures. Their work is grounded in ritual, craft, and a deep respect for landscape. The brief was to create a website that felt as considered and long-lasting as their saunas themselves. Skyrocket worked with Heritage Saunas to design and build a premium digital experience that balances editorial storytelling, clarity for homeowners and architects, and a structure that supports long-term organic search growth.
Within three months of launch, with zero paid advertising, no completed product and no prior market presence, Heritage Saunas was receiving enquiries from some of New Zealand's most prominent residential architects and high-end homeowners.
The site converts enquiries at 4.6% against a 2.7% industry benchmark and consistently generates two to three leads a week from their precise target audience. It won Design of the Year at the Wonder Global Design Awards and is a finalist in the 2026 Best Design Awards for Brand Expression Websites.

New Zealand's design-conscious homeowners have long imported their sauna experiences, prefabricated boxes that bear little relationship to the traditional craft, material richness or cultural depth that serious wellness benefits from. Heritage Saunas was founded to change that: premium New Zealand handcrafted redwood log-style saunas and custom builds for high-end residential clients, tying Finnish sauna tradition to the natural beauty of New Zealand through entirely local and sustainable materials.
The brief was to launch their digital presence and establish positioning in a market they were, in effect, creating from scratch. The website needed to go live before a single sauna had been completed, so there were no finished product photographs. There was a vision, a polished craft and a conviction that the right buyers were out there waiting.
Without product to show, the work had to sell belief and create feeling. The strategy was to lead entirely with aspiration and atmosphere, to make visitors feel the warmth, texture and intention of a Heritage sauna before one existed to photograph. We treated the absence of imagery as a creative directive: build a brand world so considered and so materially evocative that the product almost becomes secondary to the experience of encountering it. Architects, interior designers and homeowners with refined taste buy an experience they return to and an aesthetic they already hold, and the site needed to speak their language fluently and immediately.
The visual identity draws from the warmth and grain of the materials themselves: redwood, steel, stone and steam. Headings carry authority and presence while body copy delivers calming clarity, and subtle accent fonts nod to the technical craftsmanship and practised hand a Heritage sauna requires. Thin precise lines frame imagery and dotted accents thread through the layout, evoking the precision of technical drawings. Motion is steadyingly slow, bringing the rhythm you feel inside a sauna to the site journey. Every decision, from palette to motion to layout, was made in service of one feeling: this is something rare, and worth immersing yourself in.
