The kind of site you wish you'd launched sooner

We build Shopify stores for established businesses. The brief starts with what the store needs to sell, not how it should look.

Past & current clients

Before anyone talks about design, there's a more useful conversation: what does this store actually need to do and for whom? For a first build, that question sets the brief properly. For an existing store, it's often the one that wasn't asked the first time. Either way, it's the conversation that determines whether the finished store earns what it costs.

Wherever you're starting from.

Starting from scratch is a different conversation from fixing something that's underperforming.
New Builds
A new Shopify or Webflow site built around what the business needs to do commercially. We work out the architecture, integrations and structure before a single page gets designed.
Re Designs
A rebuild of a site that is underperforming. We look at where the current site is losing people, agree on a commercial brief and redesign from there. Not a cosmetic refresh.
Shopify Plus
Shopify's enterprise tier. Lower transaction fees, custom checkout logic, wholesale channels and priority support. For stores at $1M+ revenue, the upgrade usually makes commercial sense.
Migrations
Moving from WooCommerce, Magento or another platform to Shopify or Webflow. Product data, customer records, URL structure , done properly so nothing gets lost in the move.
Ongoing Support
Ongoing development for live sites. Feature additions, performance work, seasonal campaigns and the day-to-day updates that keep a site working as hard as the business.

How a project works when the measure is revenue, not aesthetics.

Every project starts from a different position. What stays constant is the first question: what does this need to achieve commercially? The steps below are built around the answer.

Understand

Before anything gets designed, we need to understand what the store is actually for.

  • What you’re selling, who’s buying it and where the current site is losing people
  • What the business needs from ecommerce over the next few years
  • The commercial brief that shapes every decision in the build
Design

Every design decision comes back to the brief, not the portfolio.

  • Product pages, collection structure, checkout flow and mobile experience
  • Designed for how your customers actually shop
  • You see and approve everything before development starts
Build

We build in Shopify using the architecture agreed in the design phase.

  • Every integration planned before development starts, not bolted on afterwards
  • Custom functionality, app connections and third-party systems built and tested together
  • Nothing goes near a live URL until it works properly across devices and browsers
Handover

We don’t hand over a login and leave.

  • Proper training on managing the store before launch day
  • Documentation of anything non-obvious in the build
  • Available for the first week post-live to handle anything that surfaces

New to market

Getting the foundation right costs less than rebuilding it later. We structure the store for the category you're entering, set up the integrations you'll actually need from day one and build in the flexibility to grow.
You've proven the product. The store probably got you here on momentum. Now the gaps are showing: conversion rate lower than it should be, a mobile experience that doesn't match the product quality, checkout friction leaking revenue. This is where a proper rebuild usually makes more commercial sense than another round of patching.

1M - 3M

The store is working but it's working harder than it should be. You're managing around its limitations. Shopify Plus is worth a serious look at this level and so is how your product catalogue, collections and search are structured. There's usually a cleaner way to run it.

3 - 10M

At this scale the problems are architectural. Shopify Plus, wholesale channels, complex checkout logic, performance under load. The store needs to work as hard as the rest of the business. We build at this level. We know what happens when the infrastructure can't keep pace.

10M+

“We hired Skyrocket to rebuild our two websites on Shopify (one for NZ, one for Australia) and we were extremely satisfied with the whole experience. Skyrocket were efficient and cost-effective, delivering everything we wanted for our websites on time and on-budget....I have 15 years of experience in e-commerce and performance marketing, working both client side and agency side ... I can honestly say that our project with Skyrocket was one of the smoothest I’ve experienced, and I would enlist them again in a second.”

Build

A new Shopify store built around what the business needs to sell. Product architecture, UX design, custom development and a handover that leaves your team confident running it from day one.

Grow

Already on Shopify and ready to push it further. We audit what the current store is doing, identify where revenue is being left behind and rebuild or redesign with a clear commercial brief.

Support

Ongoing development for stores that need a specialist in their corner. Feature additions, performance work, seasonal builds and the day-to-day improvements that compound over time.

FAQs

Shopify or Webflow: which platform is right for our store?

For product-led ecommerce, Shopify is almost always the right choice. It handles inventory, orders and payments better than anything else at its price point. Webflow handles ecommerce for smaller catalogues where design is the primary concern. We will tell you which is right before the project starts.

How long does an ecommerce website build take?

Most ecommerce builds run ten to fourteen weeks from a signed brief to launch. Larger catalogues, custom integrations or complex shipping setups take longer. Scope and timeline are agreed before you commit.

Do you handle product setup and data migration?

Yes. Product data, imagery, categories and variant setup are all included in the scope. If you are migrating from another platform, we handle that too, including preserving your existing URL structure and search rankings.

Can we manage the store ourselves after launch?

Yes. We set up the admin to match how your team works and train everyone before handover. Updating products, running promotions and managing orders do not require a developer.

Shopify Product Pages: How to Optimise Titles, Descriptions, and Images for Search

Most Shopify stores are leaking sales from the same place: undercooked product pages. This guide shows you how to fix that with simple, high-impact SEO tweaks anyone can make.

Shopify Theme Customisation: What’s Possible (and What’s Not)

When it comes to building an online store, Shopify stands out as one of the most popular e-commerce platforms, offering both ease of use and extensive customisation options.

How Much Does a Shopify Website Cost in NZ?

Shopify store costs in NZ depend on catalogue size and whether the build starts from a theme or a custom design. Here is what a realistic project budget looks like.

Joining the Designers Institute of New Zealand

Seven years of building websites, and I could talk for hours about how important design is in shaping commercial outcomes. This week I joined the Designers Institute of New Zealand.

We’re always around, in a ‘we can come visit’ sort of way.

Before a project starts, we often come to you. Sitting in your space, understanding how the business operates and working through the brief face to face gives us context that a video call doesn't quite replicate.
