Pupuke Golf Club sits on Auckland's North Shore, between native bush and views of the Hauraki Gulf, and runs far more than a golf course. Coaching, one of New Zealand's biggest She Loves Golf programmes, corporate golf days, a clubhouse for hire and a bar, café and bistro all sit under one roof. We designed, built and look after the club's website on a single monthly fee, and gave every one of those revenue lines its own clear path to an enquiry or a booking.
The website has paid for itself every year Pupuke has had it. More than 230 women come through She Loves Golf each summer, signing up through the site, and function enquiries run at around 10 a week, turning into one or two confirmed functions a month. Membership and programme enquiries arrive every week.
Search carries a large share of that. Over the last 28 days the site earned 3,500 clicks from 24,500 Google impressions at an average position of 7.3, a 14.3% click-through rate, which means roughly one in seven people who see Pupuke in Google click through. The club has run on this same monthly model for five years.
“The new Pupuke website has made a huge difference to how we present the club. We have a lot going on across golf, coaching, events, functions and membership, and the site gives us a much more professional platform to promote all of it. It’s also become an important enquiry and booking tool for the club, particularly for functions, programmes and new members.”

A golf club sells far more than golf, yet most club websites still read like a noticeboard for the people who already belong. Pupuke runs the course, coaching, one of New Zealand's biggest She Loves Golf programmes, corporate golf days, a renovated clubhouse for hire and a bar, café and bistro. Each of those has a different buyer arriving with a different question, from the couple pricing a wedding venue to the company booking a team day out and the woman who has never held a club but likes the sound of a summer programme with friends.
Members manage handicaps, draws and results through DotGolf, and that system does its job well. Whatever we built had to sit alongside it without asking a single member to change how they log in. The club also needed the website funded from its operating budget as one predictable monthly cost, rather than tabled as a capital project every few years.
We treated every revenue line as its own front door. Golf, coaching, She Loves Golf, corporate days, functions and hospitality each have a dedicated page with an enquiry or booking path built for that buyer, so the function coordinator receives a lead with a date and numbers attached and the coaching team hears from people ready to sign up. Members go straight through to DotGolf on the club's own subdomain, members.pupuke.co.nz, which leaves the public site free to do the selling.
Navigation is organised around what a visitor wants to do rather than how the committee is structured. Membership, play, functions and the clubhouse are each one click from the homepage, and the copy stays specific: what it costs, when it runs and how to book. Because we look after the site on a monthly fee, programmes, menus and event dates stay current from one season to the next, while the club's own team updates news and results themselves.
